Thai Country Club Upgrades Their Irrigation to Get a More Playable and Healthier Turf

Thai Country Club in Chacheongsao, Thailand, just outside Bangkok recently renovated their irrigation system by moving from a competitor controller system to a Rain Bird Par+ES system with a Rain Bird Stratus II central control. Over the past year the course has upgraded their irrigation control system in order to improve the system efficiency as well as course playability.

An irrigation system analysis was completed showing the course was suffering from wet fairways, approaches and surrounds. Some of these problems were attributed to poor drainage, but many were actually irrigation related. Based on the analysis the club began training their staff on water management techniques and renovating the irrigation control system.

Jim Schumacher of Aqua Turf International (ATI) was contracted to support the renovation efforts and help to train the staff on the features of their Rain Bird system.  As part of the upgrade the Freedom MI system with remote access and control was installed along with Rain Watch rain cans, which ensure automatic system shutdown during a Rain event.
