Golf Environmental Organization (GEO) is an International not-for-profit dedicated to helping the golf community embrace sustainability; providing practical solutions and golf’s ecolabel, GEO Certified. June 2017’s Champions of the Green article from Golf Environment Organization highlighted Vidago Palace Golf Course in Portugal.

In 2008-2010 the course was expanded from a 9-hole course into an 18-hole Par 72 course. Throughout the renovation the course’s environmental compatibility with the local topography, landscape and mineral aquifer on top of which it is located were of high importance. Vidago Palace “was designed with [water efficiency] in mind…we invested in one of Rain Bird’s state of the art computerized irrigations systems, the Stratus II.”

The Rain Bird Stratus™ II Central Control Software allows the club to accurately monitor, record and react to water levels across the course providing real-time remote irrigation control via a mobile phone.
