Personnel from Rain Bird are set to share their water management expertise at the only major conference in Europe devoted to golf club management.

Members of the Golf Club Managers’ Association (GCMA) will meet from 21-23 November at the Wyboston Lakes Resort in Bedfordshire, UK, for their annual conference and awards ceremony. A line-up of renowned speakers will deliver informative and engaging presentations under this year’s conference themes of Leadership & Wellbeing, Sustainability, and Technology.

Influential industry figures will be drawn together for a panel discussion on ‘Key Issues in Sustainable Management of Golf Courses’. Joining the GEO Foundation’s Executive Director Jonathan Smith, the British and International Golf Greenkeepers Association’s Ecology and Sustainability expert James Hutchinson and others will be Rain Bird’s Golf Sales Specialist for the UK, Ireland, and Iceland, Shaun Anderson, a former R&A Scholar with a specific interest in sustainable golf.

Then, in a special focus session, Jimmy Sandison, Regional Golf Sales Manager for the UK, Ireland, Iceland, Scandinavia, and Finland will be joined at the podium by the GCMA’s Professional Development Manager, Gavin Robinson, and Karl Williams, Golf Course Manager at Worcester Golf & Country Club. Karl will share the story of how an irrigation evaluation led to the installation of a Rain Bird IC System™ with Stratus™ II Central Control and IC CONNECT™ devices at the parkland course, which was designed by Dr Alister MacKenzie in 1927. He will explain how Rain Bird technologies addressed the club’s climate change and sustainability concerns, boosted its reputation, and enhanced playing conditions for its members and visitors.
